Statement of Faith

Our Christian Foundation

At Salt & Light Arts Academy, our Christian faith is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that all truth, goodness, and beauty ultimately find their source in God, and that education offers a wonderful opportunity to discover His creation, cultivate the gifts He has given us, and grow in wisdom, virtue, and love.

Salt & Light is an independent Christian homeschool arts and humanities program, not affiliated with any particular church or denomination. We welcome families from a variety of Christian traditions, united by the essential beliefs of the historic Christian faith.

Our Statement of Faith is grounded in Holy Scripture and expressed through the ancient creeds of the Church, particularly the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.

What We Believe

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of heaven and earth, the source of all goodness, truth, beauty, and life.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fully God and fully man. Through His life, death on the cross, and bodily resurrection, He has accomplished our redemption and opened the way to reconciliation with God. Salvation is a gift of God's grace through Jesus Christ.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who works within us, draws us toward God, and helps us grow in faith, holiness, wisdom, and love.

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and reveal His truth, His character, and His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Scripture guides our faith, teaching, and daily lives.

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity and worth. Each child is uniquely gifted and deserving of love, respect, and opportunities to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and character.

We believe in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, the communion of believers throughout the world and across generations, united in Jesus Christ. We recognize that faithful Christians may differ on matters of doctrine and practice while sharing the central truths of the Christian faith.

We believe that Christians are called to love God and love their neighbors. Through faith, prayer, repentance, service, and the work of the Holy Spirit, we seek to live lives that reflect the love of Christ and bring glory to God.

Our Faith in Education

At Salt & Light Arts Academy, we believe that education is not simply the acquisition of knowledge, but the cultivation of the whole person—mind, heart, and spirit.

We believe the study of literature, history, language, music, theater, and the visual arts helps children encounter truth, recognize beauty, develop discernment, and appreciate the richness of God's creation.

We seek to nurture students who are curious, thoughtful, creative, compassionate, and grounded in Christian virtue. Above all, we hope to encourage children to use their God-given gifts for His glory and the good of others.

We draw inspiration from the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:13–16, calling His followers to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

The Apostles' Creed

An ancient profession of the essential beliefs of the Christian faith.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Nicene Creed

An ancient profession of faith affirming the Holy Trinity and the person and work of Jesus Christ.

We believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of the Father before all ages,
God of God, Light of Light,
true God of true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father;
through Him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
He came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered and was buried.
On the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

A Note on Christian Unity

The word catholic in these ancient creeds means universal, referring to the worldwide Church of Jesus Christ, rather than exclusively to the Roman Catholic Church.

While Christian traditions may differ in certain teachings and practices, Salt & Light Arts Academy seeks to emphasize the historic Christian faith that unites us.

We welcome families from different Christian backgrounds and seek to cultivate a community of mutual respect, kindness, and love. Our Christian beliefs will naturally shape our instruction, Scripture readings, prayers, and community life, while we honor the important role of parents and their churches in their children's spiritual formation.
